One of my all-time favorite singers, Miriam Makeba, has died.
She was also known as "Mama Africa" and "The Empress of African Song."
Her music was featured in the soundtrack to the movie, SARAFINA (one of my favorites).
If you are not familiar with her beautiful voice, then take a listen here to one of my very favorite songs (from the movie); Makeba plays the role of mama with Leleti Khumalo as her daughter. You can skip ahead to about 6:25 minutes on the clip to hear the beginning of the song.:
